Ron Works With Cincinnati Parks On Federal Proposal

November 2014, Washington, D.C.

During November, Ron and Bill Hanka of Hanka Advisor worked with Cincinnati Parks staff to draft and finalize a proposal to the U.S. Army Corps seeking an increase in the Smale Riverfront Park Project’s authorization from the current $30 million to $80 million. The proposal, which is due December 3, 2014, is the first-ever solicitation from the U.S. Army Corps seeking input from project stakeholders on the projects it will submit to Congress in its annual report in February 2015. The Corps will submit a list of “recommended” projects for Congressional review, but will also include a list of all other projects it received in the same report.

The revised authorization language being submitted to the federal government would allow Cincinnati to receive credit for the planning, engineering, design and construction work they have carried out above and beyond the authorized non-federal limits.  The project will continue to grow as planned, providing a tremendous economic impact to the region.  The Smale Riverfront Park project is a perfect model of public private partnership, resulting in the leveraging of $15 million in federal funding to secure $51 million in private dollars.
